Good News For Bad People
God's covenantal love for his people is freely given and is an unmerited, undeserved gift of God. This free gift is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Praise God that life lost in the Garden of Eden is overcome by life gained in Jesus Christ!
Scripture: Isaiah 43:1-5, 10-13, John 3:1-21, Romans 6:23

    Bad News For Good People
An honest worker should expect to receive the wages due their labor. The Bible uses this same principle regarding sin and warns rebellious sinners to expect just payment from God for their sin, for the wages of sin is death.

    Scripture: 1 Kings 16:29-33, Romans 6:23

    Slave (Part 2)
The progressive nature of sin in our lives is from lawlessness to more lawlessness, for sin begets sin and leads to unimaginable deeds of darkness.  But thanks be to God, believers in the Lord Jesus Christ have been set free from the power of sin!

    Scripture: Isaiah 64:1-9, Romans 6:15-22

    Slave
You are either a slave to sin or a slave to God.  Sin blinds the one who serves it, leading them to death.  The person set free from sin is enslaved to God and set apart for eternal life.  Is sin your master, or is God?
    Scripture: Daniel 3:8-18, Romans 6:15-19

    Consider Yourself Dead To Sin
For believers, our union with Christ has set us free from the reign of sin. The old self has been crucified, the power of sin has been broken, and we walk in the newness of life. Believers should consider themselves dead to sin.
    Scripture: Numbers 14:1-4, 11-12; Romans 6:1-14

    What Shall We Say?
Every person is either under the reign of sin or under the reign of grace.  Under the reign of sin, a person is enslaved to sin, and they still serve it.  However, under the reign of grace, a person is dead to sin, alive in Christ, and free to love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ.

    Scripture: Jeremiah 17:5-10, Romans 6:1-2

    Wrong Responses To Grace
One of the most dangerously sinful responses to free grace is legalism. Legalism focuses on performance and appearance, emphasizing external conformity over true heart change and the actual fruit of repentance and obedience. In Christ
People are either guilty in Adam or righteous in Christ. Because Jesus perfectly obeyed the law, salvation through Him is a free gift that provides us justification and the guarantee of eternal, glorified life. Scripture: Isaiah 1:18-20, Romans 5:12-21

    In Adam
Sin entered the world through one man, Adam. Death, through sin, entered and spread to all men because of Adam's transgression. All humankind falls short of God's glory and stands sinfully guilty before Him.

    Only Two Kinds of People
God deals with His people by covenant, and in Romans 5, Paul lays out the two possible covenant relationships men have with God: death in Adam or life in Christ.
    Scripture: Genesis 4:1-16, Romans 5:12-21
